We put them in unfinished basements so why not an unfinished attic,I think a permenate stair would be required.

Time to clear the air....
The light poles that I reference herein are site lighting metal poles, installed by an EC, on private property. The 'rod' is a 'spec' item by the EE/PE/Arch.
I am not refering to utility poles (wood) installed and maintained by a utility here.

The latest issue of the IAEI magazine has an (actually readable) article on a new twist to alternative energy: the micro-inverter.
Personally, I think this is an idea whos time has come. Where it matters to us is that it radically changes the way secondary power sources are tied into the system.

The last lights I installed had a caution notice printed inside them addressing this very issue - that you need to be wary of harmonics issues.
IMO, there is merit to oversizing the neutral, at least through the first row of lights.

That is true. I set an old dresser out and a scrapper came by and took the knobs off.. They were not anything special either, just mismatched/broken pot metal and a couple hardware store pulls.
